I had invited some friends who share my Vision, and are making sure that we set up a solid foundation.
In attendance were Pete Tebutt, Nick Houser, Connie Thurber, Guy Hawkins, Cindy Koppen, Eva van Loon and yours truly.
The upshot was: We need to come up with our Vision Statement to establish a board with a clear direction.
The definition is so far:
The Vision is to heal.
We are non-political and non-sectarian.
We facilitate healing within the community through raising awareness of our identity as unified spirits, rather than separate bodies (egos).
We are promoting the values of Unity and Healing through radical Forgiveness.
This is done through concerts, teach-ins, (eg: inviting Eckhard Tolle to speak, etc) and similar endeavours.
Revenue generated by our events will be used to help support important community services. Specifics will be announced in each case as ‘the goal’ of the event.
You are of course always welcome to participate in forming the Vision.
There will be two paid positions; a director and an assistant, both part-time as needed.
Their function is to deal with all logistics, publication of this venture, communications with all participants, and to efficiently coordinate volunteers
and the resources entrusted.
They are to be fully accountable to the community.
This website is being developed to facilitate community involvement in this process.
The site contains an accounting page: "in Trust" displaying up-to-date state
of the funds held in trust.
It shows names and amount contributed.
This will ensure maximum transparency.
The director is myself, Jürgen Koppen.
You will find my part-time commitment to be of a very enthusiastic nature.
Previous concert promotion experience: I envisioned, promoted and brought about a Frank Zappa concert in Halifax, NS. in the fall of 1984.
I will not need to get paid in full until after each show.
Meanwhile I will keep track of the time I invest in each gig. After the show I will get paid as part of general production costs at the same rate as if I was working in my kayak shop, $35/hr.
A lot of my time will be volunteered as well, I am just not in a position to do this full time pro bono :-)
I will delegate whatever work I can to volunteers, so we maximize the amount we can give to our goal; the Family Place.
I will take an occasional draw out of operating funds to pay for materials such as posters, office supplies, etc.
Those expenses will be immediately listed on the website for all to see.
In this manner I am fully accountable and responds-able to all contributers.
